Competitiveness through material efficiency

Material efficiency refers to the production of competitive products and services with fewer material inputs compared to previous measures, so that the harmful effects of the product are reduced during its life cycle.

As an expert in material efficiency, Rejlers has been involved in the implementation of a range of projects related to the theme. Rejlers conducted a material efficiency audit at the Mikkeli plant of Ahlstrom Glassfibre Ltd, which yielded 27 improvement suggestions.

Audit

  • a systematic way of looking for issues to enhance
  • determines material flows quantitatively, qualitatively and economically, as well as assessing the connection to environmental aspects
  • presents material flows visually
  • launches a continuous development process and generates valuable information for the company’s development activities

Material efficiency means savings. It helps companies as well as the public sector to fulfil their social responsibility, while saving money.

According to the current Government Programme, Finland is striving to be a global forerunner in developing an environmentally friendly, resource and material efficient economy, and sustainable consumption and production patterns. Rejlers is strongly involved in this development.
